The idea of Porsche employing a diesel in its portfolio is met with a great deal of disgust in many peoples eyes, but nonetheless Porsche will be pressing ahead with their diesel offensive. We already know the Cayenne will get an Audi sourced 3.0-liter TDI V6 engine starting from next year and now following a report by autoweek the same engine will make its way to the new Porsche Panamera. Upon release Porsche will use its tried, tested and proven engine line-up, and further down the line a hybrid powertrain which is currently in development will also be introduced. The new full parallel hybrid system is derived from the Cayenne Hybrid, it allows the model to drive using the powerful gasoline engine, emission busting electric engine or both together combining the advantages each has to offer. Another rumour flying around also states the model will be offered as a targa in the future after Porsche showed renderings of the Panamera featuring a three-panel targa roof. The German manufacturer has refused to confirm or deny either of these rumours.
