With the new Mercedes GLK ready to hit the road in a couple of months, the diminutive SUV is already on the drawing board for Mercedes tuner Lorinser. Starting with the grille, the large Mercedes star remains, but is now surrounded by mesh wire with large chrome moldings above and below. The front bumper fascia in matching body color does away with the GLKs sharp angular design in favor of a more flowing style without hard corners and edges. Similar to the GLK Freeside Concept, Lorinser has placed lying on the inside of the large air intake vents LED day time driving lamps. Sitting prominently in the middle of the fascia is an ornamental underside skid plate. The soft and round design styling continues around back with a matching underside skid plate plus integrated exhaust pipes dominating the entire rear view. Although Lorinser makes no mention of side skirts, we can see in the sketches, the side skirts closely resemble those found on the Freeside concept as well. Lorinser states a decision to move forward on this GLK design study has not been confirmed yet. So depending on the response, it could be back to the drawing board.
