Highly tuned GLK is fitted with a 6.1 liter engine with specially built BRABUS components German tuner BRABUS has managed to squeeze a large V8 from the S 500 into the Mercedes-Benz GLK SUV. That's a feat in and of itself. BRABUS introduces the GLK V8 at the Geneva auto show today and explains rather well in its press release how they've managed to expand the displacement of the standard S 500 engine to 6,096 cc and fit it into the compact GLK. The results are a massive amount of power - 462 hp and peak torque of 615 Nm (453 lb-ft). More than a little tweaking has been done here. BRABUS has put in a custom made billet-steel crankshaft that comes with a longer stroke and a larger cylinder bore. A compression ratio of 11.0:1 is achieved by means of BRABUS's own performance pistons. The litany of surgical tuning that is also performed on the unsuspecting GLK can be read in the release. Points to note include larger intake and exhaust valves on the four-valve cylinder heads, a 7-speed automatic transmission, performance exhaust system, performance brake system, and a BRABUS suspension lowering the GLK by 30 mm. The interior also gets a luxed-up once over with a leather suiting and Alcantara elements. Final performance numbers: 0 to 100 km/h in 4.9 seconds and top speed of 275 km/h. Not surprising is the price for the BRABUS GLK V8, with the base-model coming in at 198,200 euros.
