Land Rover announced the arrival of the new facelift LR4 or Discovery as it is known in many markets. Simultaneously the new 5.0-litre direct injection V8 from Jaguar/ Land Rover is being offered for the LR4. The engine replaces the old 4.4-litre V8. It produces 25% more power and 19% better torque than its predecessor. The power figures are 375bhp (280kW) and 375 lb-ft (508Nm) of torque. Mated to the 5.0-litre is a 6-speed ZF automatic transmission which helps the vehicle do 0 - 100km/h in 7.6 seconds. The vehicle also produces fewer C02 emissions. The 4x4 Terrain Response system has been enhanced with the inclusion of the Sand Launch Control feature which basically allows for very limited wheel-slip. Digging deep into the sand is thus prevented. Safety features include a reverse surround camera, hill descent control and Dynamic Stability Control (DSC). Among other exterior cosmetic differences are the new LED lights both front and rear, a new front bumper, 19-inch wheels (20-inch optional) and new main headlights. The interior is redesigned to feel more comfortable, with features like a heater steering wheel with remote audio controls, improved access to controls and LED interior lighting on the door handles and pockets. Comfort technologies include a USB port for multi-media playback, an LCD touch-screen and iPod connectivity
